With that increased responsibility, however, comes the need to expand our team to accomplish all that we hope to. In the coming year, we will be bringing on many new partners and team members. The first new team member that we would like to introduce is Megan Rodgers.
Megan is an Environmental Research Assistant for the UNC Institute for the Environment's Center for Public Engagement with Science. She earned her BS in Environmental Science from North Carolina State University and is now pursuing her MS in Environmental Assessment with a certificate in GIS. Before joining the Institute, Megan completed several long-term internships with local organizations including the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF), WakeUP Wake County, and Sierra Club. She enjoys learning new things about the environment and sharing her environmental science knowledge with the public through outreach and engagement. In her free time, Megan appreciates spending time outdoors, hiking, biking, and gardening. When she goes on hiking and backpacking trips, Megan likes to participate in citizen science by documenting new plants and animals she encounters on the trail using iNaturalist.
Megan will be lending a hand in a number of ways. She will help us out with our website and communications, including writing blog posts and articles. She will also help out with installing and maintaining our lake gauges and representing LLMP at various conferences.
We share stories about the lakes in our study, our partners and volunteer citizen scientists, as well as interesting results from our research.
