LOCSS Has Gone International

Back in November, we reported that LOCSS team member Faisal Hossain was working to expand the LOCSS program to Bangladesh. We are pleased to report that our partners at the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), in collaboration with HMRC, have installed gauges in three seasonal lakes in Bangladesh, called haors. On May 17, we received the first height measurement for one of these lakes, Korchar Haor in northeast Bangladesh. This was the first measurement we have received for a lake from outside of the United States!

You can view the location and lake height measurements for our study lakes in Bangladesh here on the LOCSS website. Additionally, a webpage has been set up by HMRC where you can view the same data.

We share stories about the lakes in our study, our partners and volunteer citizen scientists, as well as interesting results from our research.
