When we began the LOCSS project in early 2017, we set ambitious goals.
There are 62 LOCSS study lakes in North Carolina, Washington, Illinois, Massachusetts, France and Bangladesh. These lakes come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Shortly after 12:00 PM on July 2, 2019, we received a text message from a citizen scientist in Illinois.
The LOCSS program began in 2017 with funding from NASA; we focused on studying natural lakes in North Carolina in our first year.
